Course Entry/Admission Requirements for PhD in Health, Environment, Safety and Security at Federal University of Petroleum Resources

General Requirements

All candidates seeking admission into the Postgraduate programmes of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, must satisfy the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO) or National Business Technical and Examination Board (NABTEB) ‘O’ Level or ‘A’ Level requirements for Matriculation into First Degree programmes of the University as approved by Senate for the various Departments. Details for the respective departments are as follows:

Department Requirements

  • To be eligible for the PhD programme of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, a candidate must have academic Master’s degree from any recognized University, and must have a minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5.0 scale. In addition, candidates must have demonstrable evidence of intellectual capacity, maturity, effective decision making and problem solving ability.
  • For admission into the Postgraduate programmes in the College of  Science, candidates must have five Credit passes at not more than two sittings in English Language, Mathematics and two (2) other relevant Science subjects at ‘O’ Level or ’A’ Level passes in two science subjects. Details for the respective departments are as follows:
    • Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology: Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics or a pass in Physics and a credit pass in Geography, Agricultural Science, Computer Studies/Health Education, Fisheries/Tourism or two ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and Biology.

Full-Time - Minimum of 6 Semesters and Maximum of 12 Semesters
Part-Time - Minimum of 8 Semesters and Maximum of 16 Semesters

Purchase of application form shall be online only. Candidates can pay and complete the application forms online by visiting the University website www.fupre.edu.ng, click on PG Online Application link, then follow the instructions.

Supporting Documents

Applicants should forward the following relevant documents in support of their applications in an envelope, (A4 Size) indicating at the back, the enclosed documents, Form Number and Name.
i.    Photocopy of University Degree Certificate(s)
ii.    Photocopy of NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate
iii.    Photocopy of O’ Level result(s)

Transcripts and Referee’ Reports
1.    Candidates should request their former University/Institution to forward their academic transcript to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, P.M.B 1221, Effurun, Delta State. Applications of candidates whose transcripts are not forwarded to the School shall not be processed.
2.    Also, candidates should request their referees to fill the referee’s report and submit online.

a)    Application processing fee for all programmes costs N15,000.00 (Fifteen thousand Naira only)
b)    The progress of completed application forms can be monitored online and notification will be sent to applicants once decisions are made on the applications.
c)    Applicants will be notified of the status of their applications by e-mail.
