Course Entry/Admission Requirements for BSc in Sociology at Obong University

Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Requirements

  • Admission into Obong University shall be through Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) or Direct Entry. In addition to attaining the general required standard in UTME, candidates must satisfy the general university requirements as well as the specific School/Faculty and Programmes requirements. All admissions shall be through JAMB.
  • Candidates must possess at least five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects (Government, History, Economics, Geography, Literature in English, etc) including English Language at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
  • Candidates with Teachers Grade II (TC II) with passes at credit or merit levels in conjunction with credit passes in relevant subjects at GCE, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents may be considered. No subject may be counted at both TC II and GCE O/L
  • Candidates who wish to change their first choice to Obong University are required to:
    • Apply for change of Institution through JAMB and
    •  Obtain Obong University Application Form
    • All candidates will be required to go through the Obong University’s Screening Exercise.

Direct Entry Requirements

Candidates for Direct Entry admission must possess any of the following   qualifications:

  • Two (2) passes at GCE A/L, HSC, IJMB, JUPEB or approved equivalents in relevant subjects and at least credit passes in three (3) other subjects, including English Language at GCE (O/L), WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than two sittings
  • Three (3) passes at GCE A/L, HSC, IJMB, JUPEB or approved equivalents in relevant subjects and at least credit passes in two (2) other subjects including English Language at GCE (O/L), WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than two sittings.
  • Two (2) passes at merit level or above in two (2) recognized NCE, OND, HND subjects or approved equivalents and at least 3 credit passes in other subjects including English Language at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than two sittings.
  • Two “A” level passes including Government or History.
  • Diploma in Public Administration and Political Science, Administration Management, Public/ Local Government Administration, Social Work, Community Development, Industrial and Labour Relations.

  2. Login using the email address as username used in creating your online profile. And enter your password
  3. Fill the Step 1 form
  4. Upload your passport in Admissions-Step2 form (max passport size is 50Kb)
  5. Fill your O/Level results in Admissions-Step3 (this is the final stage)
  6. Fill your JAMB results in Admissions-Step4 (this is the final stage)
  7. Print the registration slip at the completion of registration
  8. Pay your registration fee of N10,000.00 only at any First Bank branch to account no. 2012748914
  9. Bring your registration slip together with the originals of your credentials and Bank teller to the Admissions Office, Obong University, Obong Ntak OR the University's Liason Office at 78 Oron Rd (3rd floor of Metropolitan Supermarket building, Uyo).
