Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Requirements

• Admission into the four-years degree programme in Microbiology must satisfy the University Matriculation requirements, including five (5) credit passes in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and English Language at the West African Examination Council (WAEC) or National Examination Council (NECO), Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or their recognized equivalents in not more than two (2) sittings.
• Note: The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Subjects written should include: – Use of English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics.

Direct Entry Requirements

For admission into the three-year degree programme (Direct Entry), candidates must in addition to the requirements in A above possess:

1. A minimum of two (2) Advanced Level (“A” Level), passes in General Certificate of Education (GCE) or its recognized equivalent at not more than two (2) sittings in the following science subjects- Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and Physics in not more than two sittings. Also, candidates with at least credit grade pass in the Diploma examination in related disciplines from any recognized University.
2. Diploma from other recognized universities with at least an upper credit level pass in the areas listed in B (ii) above.

• Ordinary National Diploma (OND) with at least an upper credit level pass in Science Laboratory Technology (SLT)/Food Technology/ relevant subject area from a recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology.

1. Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a lower credit level pass in Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) or Food Technology in the relevant subject area from a recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology
2. Nigerian Certificate of Education (NCE) with at least a credit level pass in Biology from a recognized College of Education. In addition candidates should have at least an overall merit level pass.
