Course Entry/Admission Requirements for B.A. (Hons) in History & International Relations at Veritas University

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Requirements

  • Five credit passes at the GCE/WAEC/NECO examinations, which must include English Language. Specifically, the requirements are as follows: 

  • B. A. (History and International Relations): English Language, Geography, History or Government, and any other two subjects,

  • Grade 11 Teachers Certificate (TC11) with credit or merit passes in at least five subjects including English and Literature in English for English and literary Studies programme; and History or Government for History and International Relations programme.
  • National Teaching Certificate (NTC), National Business Certificate (NBC) with credit passes in five subjects relevant to the course and obtained at not more than two sittings. For  NTC/NBC, a credit in any General Education subjects, trade related subjects and trade component subjects is equivalent to a credit in a subject.

  • In every case, the University requires that the candidate make an acceptable pass on the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB). In addition, the University further screens all candidates for admission into its degree programmes.

Direct Entry

  • Candidates seeking Direct Entry admission to the 200-level of a degree programme should possess, in addition to the minimum of five credit passes at the GCE/WAEC/NECO examinations:

  • Advanced Level GCE in Literature for English and Literary Studies programme ; and History or Government for History and international Relations programme,
  • Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) Examination in relevant subjects    
  • Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in relevant subjects excluding Education               
  • National Diploma (ND) Upper Credit in subject applied for  or  related field
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) Lower Credit in related field
  • First degree in a related area from a recognized university 

Inter-University Transfer

  • Candidates wishing to transfer from another university into any of the academic programmes of the Department must obtain and fill the Inter-University Transfer form from the University’s Admissions Office.
  • An application for admission to the University through inter-university transfer will be considered only if the  Department is satisfied that the candidate has met the minimum academic requirements for admission to the programme he or she has chosen. All inter-university transfer candidates will normally be admitted into 200 (or lower) level of the receiving programme.

APPLICATION TO UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM

    Candidates may be admitted into the undergraduate degree programmes of the Department in any of the following three ways:

    1. Through Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)
    2. By Direct Entry
    3. Through Inter-University Transfer

    Eligible Candidates

    • Candidates who made Veritas University, Abuja their first or second choice in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) application form.
    • All other candidates who did not choose Veritas University, Abuja as first or second choice but are interested in studying in the University.
    • Candidates in 1) and 2) above must have obtained a minimum score of 170 in the UTME.
    • Direct-entry candidates (must have obtained the Direct-Entry Form from JAMB).
    • Candidates wishing to transfer from other universities to Veritas University Abuja.

    Method of Application

    • Application forms can be downloaded from the manual forms page. The completed form and payment teller should be scanned and sent to admissions@veritas.edu.ng or submitted at: Admissions Office, Veritas University Abuja.
    • All payments should be made in the University Accounts as indicated below.

    • Candidates should download manual Application forms by downloading the PDF form from our website.
    • The completed form and the payment teller must be scanned and submitted to pgschool@veritas.edu.ng after paying the non-refundable sum of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000.00) only or its dollar equivalent into the University account below;
    • The completed form should be submitted to the "Dean, College of Postgraduate Studies, Veritas University, Abuja", along with the evidence of payment
    • All payments should be made in the University Accounts as indicated below.
